How was Achilles killed.Achilles was killed by an arrow in his heel. His heel was the only place where Achilles was vulnerable. His mother, the Nereid (sea nymph) Thetis, had given him the choice between a short life of fame and a long life without fame. Achilles wanted fame, and to make his life as long as possible Thetis made him invulnerable by dipping him in the Styx the river in Hades the underworld. The heel was the only place that was not touched by the water, as that is where Thetis held the baby Achilles. After many heroic fights, Achilles was killed by Paris in the Trojan war.
